Practical answers for your account, verification, privacy, matches, billing and safety, with the next step for each.
Nikkup on the web
Signing in on a computer, passkeys, shared computers and signing out of browsers.
I already use the app. How do I sign in on a computer for the first time?
Phone-number codes are sent only in the app, so on the web you use one of these instead.
Scan a code with your phone (quickest): open app.nikkup.com, then in the latest version of the app go to Profile → Sign-in & security → Scan to sign in on a computer. No password is needed.
Set a password from your phone: in the app, go to Profile → Sign-in & security → Password, passkeys and web sessions → Set a password (you need a verified email). Then sign in on the web with your email and that password.
Google: Continue with Google opens your account only if it is already linked to that Google account; otherwise it starts a new, separate account.
Forgot password? on the sign-in page also works with a verified email, but it signs you out on every device, including your phone.
How does signing in with my phone work?
Open app.nikkup.com on your computer. On a large screen the code sits beside the sign-in form; on a smaller one, choose Use your phone.
In the latest version of the Nikkup app, go to Profile → Sign-in & security → Scan to sign in on a computer and point your phone at the code.
Your phone shows roughly where the sign-in is coming from, when that can be worked out. Check that the 6-character code matches the one on your computer, then tap Approve sign-in. If you use app lock, quick sign-in or a PIN, the app asks you to confirm with it first. Choosing Deny cancels the sign-in.
Each code works once and is replaced every two minutes. Only approve if you are at that computer right now, and never scan a code someone sent you.
Can I sign in with a passkey?
Not yet. Adding a passkey to a Nikkup account isn’t available at the moment, so please use one of the other ways to sign in. We will update this answer when passkeys arrive.
I’m on a shared or public computer. What should I do?
Leave Remember me unticked when you sign in. You are then signed out when you close the tab or browser, and after 12 hours at most. With Remember me ticked, the browser stays signed in until the session goes unused for 30 days, so tick it only on a computer that is yours.
Other members’ photos blur whenever you switch to another tab or window. When you finish, choose Log out on the Profile page. If you forget, sign that browser out from the app under Profile → Sign-in & security → Signed-in devices.
How do I sign out of a browser I no longer use?
In the Nikkup app on your phone, open Profile → Sign-in & security → Signed-in devices. Browsers are listed as Web browser: sign out any you don’t recognise. Sign out all other devices also works, but it signs out your other phones too.
With the latest version of the app, Sign-in & security → Password, passkeys and web sessions also lists each browser, shows whether it is remembered, and offers Sign out all web sessions, which signs out every browser while your phones stay signed in.
Accounts & profiles
Signing up, your profile, a copy of your data and closing your account.
Who can create an account?
Muslims aged 18 or over who are single, divorced or widowed and seeking marriage. One person, one account. Accounts that appear to belong to someone under 18 are removed.
How do I sign up?
Download the Android app from Google Play and sign up with your phone number. (Sign in with Apple will be available when the iPhone app launches; it is not available yet.) Your number is confirmed with a one-time code sent by WhatsApp or SMS. You can also create an account on the web at app.nikkup.com with your email and a password, or with Google, without a phone number: Nikkup on the web.
What goes into my profile?
Your deen and practice, education, profession and family background; your marriage timeline, children, relocation and living arrangements; your deal breakers; and the 15-question Marriage Compatibility Questionnaire. You can edit your profile and privacy settings at any time in the Profile tab.
How do I download a copy of my data?
Go to Profile → Email & account → Download my data and tap Prepare my data. You get a link to a copy of your profile, photos, matches and your own messages, valid for 24 hours.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. Your profile is hidden straight away. Sign back in within 30 days to restore it; after that your personal data is permanently deleted. Without the app, email support@nikkup.com. Full steps, and what we keep.
Verification
The selfie check, optional ID verification and who can see your documents.
What verification does every member do?
Every member takes a guided selfie with a random head-turn. It proves a live person is behind the profile, and it is compared with the profile photos so every photo shows the same person.
Do I have to verify my ID?
ID verification is optional and earns the Identity verified badge. Men are asked to verify their ID before they message. Your national ID card, Emirates ID, Iqama or passport confirms your name, age (18+) and identity.
Who can see my ID document?
No other member, ever. It is stored in a private, encrypted vault, seen only by trained moderators through links that expire in minutes, and deleted after review. Members only see your badge, never the document.
Which photos are allowed?
Photos must show just you: no group photos, pets, scenery or screenshots. Hijab, scarf, cap, kufi and turban are welcome, and sisters who wear niqab may use a covered photo. Every upload gets a modesty check.
What if a check gets it wrong?
Clear passes are accepted automatically, and uncertain cases are always decided by a trained moderator, not a machine. If you believe an automated decision about you is wrong, contact us and a person will review it.
Privacy & data
Photo privacy, profile visibility, what others never see and how your data is used.
Who can see my photos?
You decide. Photos can be visible to suitable members, blurred until you match, or shown only to members you approve. Location metadata is removed from every photo.
How do I control who sees my profile?
Choose Public, Private or Invisible mode. With Avoid contacts, people from your phone book won’t see you (only secure hashes are stored). Nobody can search for you by phone number, email or ID.
What do other members never see?
Your phone number, email, ID document, date of birth (only your age) and exact location. Your location is rounded to about 1 km, so others see rough distances only.
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising. We share data with service providers only as needed to run Nikkup. Who processes your data.
Can people take screenshots?
The Android app blocks screenshots in chats. iPhones do not let apps block them, so when someone screenshots a conversation on an iPhone, the other person sees a notice in the chat. In the web app, other members’ photos carry a faint watermark with a code from the viewer’s account, have no save option in the browser, and blur when you switch to another tab or window. No website can block every screenshot, but this discourages copying and makes a leaked photo traceable.
Matching & conversations
How matches happen, messaging, expired matches and involving your wali.
How does matching work?
Choose Interested or Not for me on each profile. When both sides are interested, it is a match. Nobody is told when you pass.
Why am I seeing this profile?
Every card shows up to three plain reasons. You only see people who fit your deal breakers, and whose deal breakers you fit. There are no compatibility percentages.
Can I message someone before we match?
One respectful opening message is possible before a match. Serious Interest also lets you add a short note.
Why did my match disappear?
Matches expire after 7 days of silence, so nobody is left waiting. A limit on active conversations also keeps the focus on quality.
How do I involve my wali or family?
Invite your wali or a family member from a conversation, with a secure link, whenever you are ready. When both sides agree, walis can exchange contact details. When wali chaperoning is on, walis receive copies of the conversation by email, and the app shows both people that it is on.
Plans & billing
What is free, how Nikkup Plus is billed, cancelling and refunds.
Is Nikkup free for women?
Yes, always. Women never pay a subscription: every core and Plus feature is included, from matching, chat and seeing who is interested to wali involvement and verification. Optional extras, like a second number for sharing in a contact exchange, are paid.
What do men get for free?
The core is free: discover, match, reply to messages, wali involvement, verification and safety. Nikkup Plus is optional and adds convenience, such as more conversations, seeing who is interested, advanced filters and Travel Mode.
How is Nikkup Plus billed?
In the app, Plus is a subscription through Google Play (and the App Store once the iPhone app launches). The price is set by the store for your country and shown before you confirm, and it renews automatically until you cancel. Reference prices.
How do I cancel Plus?
Cancel in your Google Play subscription settings (or App Store settings, once the iPhone app launches), at least 24 hours before renewal. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a store subscription.
Can I get a refund?
In-app purchases are billed by Apple or Google, so their refund rules apply. On Google Play, a refund within the first 48 hours is usually automatic; after that, contact us and we will help where Google allows it. When the iPhone app launches, Apple will decide App Store refund requests. Refund Policy.
Safety & reporting
Reporting and blocking, scams, rule-breaking and urgent situations.
How do I report or block someone?
Tap ••• on any profile or conversation and choose Report or Block. Blocking is instant and silent.
Will the person know I reported them?
No. Reports are confidential, you are never named to the person you report, and trained moderators review every report.
What happens to someone who breaks the rules?
Depending on severity, we may remove content, show a warning, limit features, suspend or permanently ban the account. Repeat offenders are removed, and banned members may not create new accounts.
Someone asked me for money. What should I do?
Never send money or share bank details with someone you met online, whatever the story. Chats are scanned for money, crypto and visa scams with warnings for you, but please report it too.
What if I am in danger?
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then use Report in the app for the fastest response, or email support@nikkup.com with “Safety” in the subject.
Still need help?
Write to our team and a person will help. We usually reply within two working days.
