Safety & verification

Real people should meet real people. Safety isn’t a feature on Nikkup; it is part of the foundation.

Selfie verification

A guided selfie with a random head-turn proves you are a live person, and is compared with your profile photos.

  • Photos must show one clear face: no group photos, pets, scenery or screenshots
  • Every photo is checked to be the same person
  • Modesty checks on every upload

ID verification

Your national ID card, Emirates ID, Iqama or passport confirms your name, age (18+) and identity.

  • Stored in a private, encrypted vault, never shown to other members
  • Seen only by trained moderators through links that expire in minutes
  • Deleted automatically after review
  • Borderline cases are always decided by a person, not a machine

Fake profiles and scams

AI-assisted systems look for fake, duplicate or stolen identities, bots and known scam patterns.

  • The same face on two accounts is flagged
  • Celebrity, stock and AI-generated photos are caught
  • Chats are scanned for money, crypto and visa scams, with warnings for you

Report & block

Every profile and conversation has Report and Block, with clear categories. Reports are reviewed by real moderators.

  • Blocking is instant and silent
  • Repeat offenders are removed

Privacy controls

You choose how visible you are and what you share.

  • Public, Private or Invisible profile modes
  • Avoid contacts: people in your phone book won’t see you (stored only as secure hashes)
  • Nobody can search for you by phone number, email or ID
  • Location rounded to about 1 km; others see rough distances only
  • Screenshot protection in chats on Android

Photo privacy

Photos can stay blurred until you match, or be visible only to members you approve.

  • Original photos are never exposed to people without access
  • Location metadata is removed from every photo

Wali involvement

Invite your wali or a family member into conversations whenever you like, for guidance and accountability.

Staying safe

  1. Never send money or share bank details with someone you met online, whatever the story.
  2. Keep conversations in Nikkup until you trust the person.
  3. Involve your family or wali before meeting.
  4. Meet in a public place and tell someone where you are going. Use Share My Meeting in the app.
  5. If something feels wrong, report it. You will never be named to the person you report.

Need to report something urgently?

Use Report in the app for the fastest response, or email us. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. [email protected]
