Nikkup vs Salams
Salams is a well-established Muslim app. Its App Store listing says it has been bringing Muslims together for the last 10 years, and it offers two modes: one for marriage and one for friendship and networking. Plenty of people have found it a friendly, familiar way to meet other Muslims.
Nikkup is a newer, marriage-only app for people who are serious about nikah. This page looks at how the two compare on filters, verification, simplicity and family involvement. Everything we say about Salams comes from its own website or app store listing, as of October 2026. Where we couldn't confirm something, we've left it out or marked it "Not stated".
In short
The verdict
If you want a well-known, swipe-style app with a friendship mode and a long track record, Salams may suit you. If you want marriage-only matching with no swiping, built-in wali and family sharing, the option to keep photos blurred until you both agree, and a free experience for women, Nikkup may suit you.

Filters and how you find people
Salams profiles show things like sect, education, career, height and prayer level, and you set preferences so the app shows compatible people. Its Gold plan adds advanced filters, such as family origin and education. Matching is swipe-based: you swipe right if you're interested, and you only match when the interest is mutual.
Nikkup's Discover is part of the free core for men and fully free for women. There are no swiping games: the app is built around reading a profile properly and deciding whether to show interest. If you want a fast, familiar swipe flow with optional paid filters, Salams may suit you. If you'd rather slow down and treat each profile as a possible proposal, Nikkup may suit you.
Whatever you use, filters only get you so far. Our guide on how to choose a Muslim marriage app covers the questions worth asking before you commit.
The verification flow
Salams says it uses selfie verification, and its homepage says its customer support team personally reviews every profile for authentication. Its published safety policy adds that it may ask for a photo ID or selfie if an account looks inauthentic or compromised, and that it doesn't run criminal background or identity checks on all users. That's an honest disclosure, and it's true of most apps, including ours.
On Nikkup, every member passes a live selfie check. ID verification is optional, and your ID is never shown to other members and is deleted after review. Members can report and block, and reports go to human moderators.
Both apps put real people behind the review process. If you like the idea of a support team looking over every profile, Salams may suit you. If you'd like to verify your ID up front and know it won't be kept, Nikkup may suit you. Either way, our safety page is worth a read.
Simplicity and privacy
Salams keeps things straightforward: profile, preferences, swipe, chat. Its site says users can blur photos, its App Store listing mentions a screenshot stopper, and its Gold and Diamond pages list stealth mode as a paid feature. The app also lets you message without sharing your phone number.
Nikkup's privacy controls are built for people who'd rather not be seen by everyone:
- Photos can stay blurred until both of you agree.
- Invisible visibility: only people you've shown interest in can see you (free for women; a Plus feature or 30-day extra for men).
- Hide your profile from people in your contacts.
- Contact details are hidden early in chats, until you both agree to share them.
There are no ads, and Nikkup never sells your data.
Family involvement
Salams' own articles encourage chaperones and family involvement, for example by having a silent chaperone in calls, bringing a family member to meetings, and telling family about your plans. We couldn't find a built-in wali or family feature on its official pages, so we've marked that "Not stated" in the table. Check the app for the latest.
Nikkup has family involvement built into the app. You can invite a wali, and you can share text-only profile summaries with your family, so parents can discuss a match without photos being forwarded around. Our families page explains how parents and walis use it.
Cost
Salams says its main features are free, and its App Store listing mentions unlimited messages and matches. Salams Gold adds unlimited likes, see who likes you and advanced filters, and Diamond adds profile boosts, insights and more. Prices are shown in the app, so check their current plans there.
On Nikkup, women get every core and Plus feature free; optional extras like a second sharing number are paid. Men get a free core (discover, match, reply, wali and safety tools), with optional Nikkup Plus from USD 4.99 / PKR 449 a month and 6 and 12 month plans. See our pricing page.
Where Salams is strong
Salams has been around for a decade and has a large, diverse community, plus a separate friendship mode if you also want to build a Muslim social circle. It's on both iPhone and Android. Those are real strengths. Nikkup is currently on Android via Google Play, in English, Urdu and Arabic, and focuses on marriage only.
