Nikkup vs Muzz: a fair comparison

If you are looking at Muslim marriage apps, Muzz is probably already on your list. It is one of the best-known names in the space, and on its own site it describes itself as the leading Muslim marriage app with over 20 million single Muslims. That kind of reach is a real advantage, and we would be doing you a disservice if we pretended otherwise.

Nikkup is a newer app built for people who are serious about nikah. This page compares the two on the things people ask us about most: how members are verified, how private your photos and profile can be, how a wali or family can be involved, and how clearly each app explains what you pay. Everything about Muzz below comes from Muzz's own website, help centre or app store listing, as of October 2026.

In short

The verdict

There isn't one right app for everyone. If you want the biggest pool of profiles, many language options and a chaperone who reads chat transcripts, Muzz may suit you. If you want the option to keep photos blurred until you both agree, an ID check that's deleted after review, a family-friendly way to share profiles, and pricing you can see before you sign up, Nikkup may suit you.

Whichever you choose, read our guide on how to choose a Muslim marriage app and keep an eye out for the red flags on marriage apps. When you're ready, you can get Nikkup here.

Verification: both start with a selfie

Both apps put a face check at the front door. Muzz says every profile is verified with a selfie, and its App Store listing says members can add optional ID verification for a blue verification badge. Its help centre says the verification selfie is used only for security and isn't shared.

On Nikkup, every member passes a live selfie check before they can take part. ID verification is optional too. Members who complete it get an Identity verified badge, but the document itself is never shown to other members, is reviewed by a trained moderator only when a case is uncertain, and is deleted after review. The idea is simple: we want to know who is on the app without asking you to hand over documents that sit around forever.

Both apps offer a badge for optional ID verification. If you would rather your ID document be checked and then deleted, Nikkup may suit you better.

Photo and profile privacy

Privacy is where the details really matter, so here is what each app says, as of October 2026.

  • Muzz: women can blur their photos for everyone and reveal them to a specific match. Muzz's help centre currently states that men aren't able to blur their profile photos. Muzz also blocks screenshots and screen recording of photos.
  • Muzz: "Hide me from everyone" is available to all users. Invisible Mode, which shows you only to people you've liked, is a Muzz Gold feature.
  • Nikkup: photos can stay blurred until both of you agree to reveal them.
  • Nikkup: Invisible visibility means only people you've shown interest in can see you. It's included for women, and it's a Plus feature (or a 30-day extra) for men.
  • Nikkup: you can hide your profile from people in your contacts, so a cousin or colleague doesn't stumble on you, and contact details are hidden early in chats until you both agree to share them, so numbers aren't swapped before you're ready.

Muzz's screenshot blocking is a genuinely useful protection. If mutual photo reveal and hiding from your own contacts are what you care about most, Nikkup may be the more comfortable fit. Our safety page explains each control in more detail.

Wali, chaperone and family involvement

Muzz has a Chaperone mode. According to its help centre, you add your wali's email in Settings, and Muzz then shares weekly transcripts of your chats with them.

Nikkup takes a different approach. You can invite a wali into the process, and you can share text-only profile summaries with family, so parents can read about someone's background, deen and plans without photos being passed around a family group chat.

These suit different families. If your wali wants to read conversations as they happen, Muzz's chaperone model may suit you. If your family wants to weigh up a proposal in the traditional way, reading a profile and discussing it together, Nikkup may suit you. Our families page shows how it works from a parent's side.

What's free, what's paid, and how clear the pricing is

Muzz says it is always free to discover profiles, match and chat. Muzz Gold adds extras such as weekly Boosts, advanced search filters, Invisible Mode, undo passes and a larger active chat limit. Muzz's help centre doesn't publish Gold prices; it asks you to check the plans in the app, because prices vary by territory. For exact figures, check their current plans in the app.

Nikkup publishes its prices. Women get every core and Plus feature free, permanently; optional extras like a second sharing number are paid. Men get a free core: discover, match, reply, wali mode and all safety tools. Nikkup Plus for men starts at USD 4.99 / PKR 449 a month, with 6 and 12 month plans. The full breakdown is on our pricing page.

Nikkup also has no ads, no swiping games, and never sells your data.

Where Muzz is strong

It's worth being honest about this. Muzz has a very large community by its own figures, so in many cities you'll simply see more profiles. It's available in 16 languages and on both iPhone and Android, and it offers video and voice calling in the app. If those things are top of your list, Muzz is a reasonable choice.

Nikkup is on Android through Google Play and supports English, Urdu and Arabic.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nikkup free for women?

Yes. Nikkup is always free for women: every core and Plus feature is included, and optional extras like a second sharing number are paid. Men get a free core (discover, match, reply, wali mode and all safety tools) and can choose the optional Nikkup Plus, from USD 4.99 / PKR 449 a month.

How does wali mode work on a marriage app?

On Nikkup, you can invite your wali, such as your father, brother or another guardian, from any conversation with a secure link. The wali can follow and join the chat, and when both sides agree, walis can exchange contact details and take the next steps family to family. You can also share text-only profile summaries with family. Muzz's help centre describes a different model: its Chaperone mode emails your wali weekly transcripts of your chats.

How is Nikkup different from Muzz or Salams?

Nikkup is only for marriage: no swiping games, no ads, and we never sell your data. Photos can stay blurred until both of you agree, your wali can be invited into the conversation itself, optional ID documents are deleted after review, and the app works in English, Urdu and Arabic. Muzz has a much larger community by its own figures, 16 languages and an iPhone app; Nikkup is on Android for now. We do not rate other apps, and each comparison page sets out features from each app's own published information.
